Get to Know Me

A curious-minded & joyful therapist - her kind yet astute observations support positive long-term change

Lara is from a mixed heritage background and grew up in central London. She previously worked in international conflict and urban development in India and Mexico before returning to London and working as a Research fellow in the War Studies Department at King's College London. She has a strong interest in conflict resolution as well as experience with groups and individuals suffering from deprivation, conflict and trauma. She also has experience working in bereavement and loss, relationships and sexuality, and trauma in both adults and children. She is currently focussed on working with those who struggle with identity issues stemming from multi/dual heritage and racism.

Lara has a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB - Counselling and Psychotherapy Awarding Body) as well as an MA (International Relations) from Sussex University. She is an integrative psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is also a member of the Black, African & Asian Therapy Network (BAATN). Lara works privately online and in person at The Awareness Centre (Clapham), where she has experience working with an eclectic mix of clients including Wandsworth NHS referred adult patients, young people (aged 11-25) as well as long-term/open ended clients. 

Lara has professional insurance cover with Balens/Zurich Insurance plc.
